The first floor of the library consists mostly of bookshelves and a section behind a gate, for the display of special books. A Printing Press can also be found here which serves the same purpose as the Scribe's Desk in the Curator's Office.

To the left of the stairs, next to the first bookshelf, a storage for journals, notes and scrolls is located which is connected to the one in the Living Room of the Safehouse.

To the right of the stairs a Book Returns, a Card Catalog and eight generic (manually fillable) bookcases are located.

There also will be displays for treasure maps lining the entrance to the library from the Hall of Heroes.

If you sit down on one of the chairs, you'll be given the option to read every displayed book without having to remove it from the display. They will be transferred into your inventory and put back when exiting the menu.

The displays above the gate activate after completing the respective quests:

Other than at the fixed locations listed on the individual book pages, most of the books in the Gated Bookcases section can spawn as random loot in Pods, in Vessels and on Seeker corpses in Apocrypha. The ones that can't are some of the books with obvious ties to specific quests, like The Amulet of Kings 1st edition, the Mythic Dawn Commentaries series, Malyn Varen's Grimoire and The Dreamstride.
