Dig Sites

Dig Sites appear throughout the game around Nordic, Dwemer and Falmer (Snow Elf) ruins.

Activating a dig site will have the player chisel fragments from the site and the Archaeology Skill will be raised by 1. Without any archaeology skill perks, a dig site will give 2 Fragments and a chance of one Keystone corresponding to the type of dig site.

There are 46 Nordic, 22 Dwemer and 29 Falmer dig sites.

Nordic

• Angarvund Ruins - At the end of the dungeon by a wooden staircase.
• Ansilvund Burial Chambers - In the same chamber where you free Holgeir and Fjori.
• Arcwind Point - Across from the word wall in the corner by the sarcophagus podium.
• Bard's Leap Summit - At the top on a ledge by the aqueduct next to Bard's Leap.
• Bleak Falls Sanctum - In the last area with the boss, to the left of the entrance.
• Blind Cliff Bastion - In the last room with Petra.
• Dead Men's Respite - Exterior: To the right of the entrance.
• Deepwood Redoubt - After entering the ruin look in the frozen area near the entrance.
• Dustman's Crypt - At the end of the Crypt where you fight the onslaught of Draugr.
• Folgunthur - Near the beginning of the ruin in the first room full of Draugr.
• Forelhost Crypt - In the large room in the Crypt.
• Frostmere Crypt - In the hallway right before Frostmere Depths next to a vein of iron ore.
• Geirmund's Hall - In the small room with the tomb.
• Hag Rock Redoubt - Exterior: Bottom of the stairs near the Alchemist's Hut.
• High Gate Ruins Catacombs - In the "Suspicious Gem" room with two sarcophagus.
• Hillgrund's Tomb - In the disgraced ancestor part of the tomb right before the main burial chamber.
• Ironbind Barrow - In front of a campfire - Large room before the last chamber.
• Kilkreath Catacombs - In the last area with the boss.
• Labyrinthian Thoroughfare - In the big room near the Troll.
• Lost Valley Redoubt - Hidden in a stone corner under an aqueduct before the Forsworn using the grind stone.
• Ragnvald Temple - At the end of the dungeon in the same room as the word wall.
• Rannveig's Fast - In the main chamber with the word wall, next to the stairs leading down on the right.
• Saarthal - In the chamber with the Eye of Magnus on the right side.
• Shalidor's Maze - Exterior: To the left of the entrance to Shalidor's Maze.
• Shriekwind Bastion - Bottom of the main large room next to the trapdoor.
• Shroud Hearth Depths - Before the secret passage leading back to Wylendius' Chamber.
• Silent Moons Camp - In the back room of the camp interior.
• Silverdrift Lair - In the central chamber before the spiked door leading to the word wall on the ground floor.
• Skuldafn South Tower - Upper exit of Skuldafn South Tower on the balcony.
• Skuldafn Temple Exterior - After exiting Skuldafn Temple, look to the right side of the steps leading to the portal to Sovngarde.
• Snow Veil Catacombs - In the first big room with the many Draugr, below where the Golden Ship model is found.
• Twilight Sepulcher - To the right side of the main staircase immediately after entering.
• Ustengrav Depths - After going down the stairs look for the switch controlling access to the chest.
• Valthume - Exterior: To the right of the entrance.
• Volskygge - Exterior: To the right of the entrance.
• Volunruud Elder's Cairn - In the last area with the boss.
• Yngol Barrow - Exterior: To the left of the entrance.
• Ysgramor's Tomb - At the room with the handle to open the locked gate.
• Gyldenhul Barrow - In the last area with the boss.
• Kolbjorn Barrow - In the first big cavern.
• Raven Rock Mine - In front of the sealed door to Bloodskal Barrow.
• Vahlok's Tomb - To the right side of the sacrifice pit.
• White Ridge Sanctum - In the first big cavern in front of the trapdoor.
• Windpass Refuge - Near the Word Wall.
• North Windcaller Pass - Beside the Etched Tablet in the second big room.
• South Windcaller Pass - In the first big Cavern with the three Ice Trolls.

Dwemer

• Alftand Glacial Ruins - In the first big room with the many pipes and the oil on the floor.
• Avanchnzel Boilery - In the last area with the boss.
• Bthardamz Lower District - In the room with the 4 rotating blades in the center.
• Debate Hall - In front of the podium
• Great Lift at Alftand - At the foot of the large Dwemer building to the left.
• Great Lift at Mzinchaleft - Right side of the elevator.
• Irkngthand Slave Pens - Immediately after entering the slave pens head straight down the corridor.
• Kagrenzel - In the small entrance room.
• Mzinchaleft Depths - In the biggest cavern, shortly after passing the button-activated gate, near a well.
• Mzulft Boilery - At the end of the Falmer-infested cave
• Nchuand-Zel Control - After entering the control location.
• Raldbthar - Exterior: at the start of the staircase to the entrance.
• Reachwind Eyrie - In front of the entrance to the tower.
• Temple of Xrib - In the massive central chamber, on the left side on a cliff.
• Tower of Mzark - Exterior: On the left side.
• Arkngthamz - At the bottom on the north end of the chasm when you first enter.
• The Aetherium Forge - On the left side of the big staircase.
• Fahlbtharz - Immediately underneath and to the left of the entrance door to the Room of Gears.
• Kagrumez - In the room after passing the second trial.
• Nchardak Great Chamber - Once you have lowered the water enough to walk on the ground floor, to the left side.
• Ruins of Rkund - Exterior: Right next to base camp.
• Ruins of Rkund - On the ground in the Falmer village located in the massive chamber, after getting the first cog key.

Falmer

• Darkwater Pass - In a side room on the lower level next to an arcane enchanter.
• Darkwater Pass - Near the top entrance in the first cavern at the base of the waterfall.
• Duskglow Crevice - Close to the entrance, on the ground below the ledge where two Falmer are fighting a Bandit.
• Gloomreach Hive - At the bottom of the big pit in the living area at the Hive right before the exit back to the Cavern. Next to a Falmer hut.
• Irkngthand Sanctuary - Sanctuary: To the left side of the big Snow Elf Statue.
• Liar's Retreat - In the room with The Longhammer.
• Lost Echo Cave - In the room with the ceremonial brazier.
• Shimmermist Grotto - Under the bridge in the area after the Chaurus nest.
• Stillborn Cave - In the side tunnel directly ahead from the entrance.
• Tolvald's Gap - At the bottom of the cliff right after entering. Next to a waterfall.
• Dawngaurd: Darkfall Cave - At the end of the first hanging bridge shortly after entering the cave.
• Darkfall Passage - Near the chest with a trap trigger surrounded by Gleamblossoms.
• Darkfall Passage - In the cavern with the big waterfall, near a Falmer hut with a Falmer boss chest.
• Forgotten Vale - Near the beginning after surviving the Darkfall Passage.
• Forgotten Vale - At the start of the Pilgrim's Path, close to a stone bow structure.
• Forgotten Vale - Near the first Unknown Book at the shore of the river after entering the main valley.
• Forgotten Vale - Across the river from the Wayshrine of Learning.
• Darkfall Grotto - Shortly after falling through the hole to the right side on a ledge.
• Forgotten Vale - At the frozen lake, on the western shore near the waterfall.
• Forgotten Vale - Near the Wayshrine of Resolution down at the lakeside by the crumbled pillars.
• Sharpslope Cave - At the bottom of the big spiral staircase.
• Forgotten Vale - In a Lair of the Frost Giant holding the Emerald Paragon.
• Glacial Crevice - After swimming around in the underground water cave, after two hanging bridges.
• Forgotten Vale - Follow the ore veins to the left of the Diamond Paragon Frost Giant Lair on the way to Luca's Pick Axe.
• Forgotten Vale - Behind the staircase to the Inner Sanctum Temple.
• Forgotten Vale Forest - Use the Ruby Paragon to access the forest. Look near the troll den.
• Inner Sanctum - Use the Sapphire Paragon to access an inaccessible room within Inner Sanctum.
• Alftand Refugee Annex - In the large dining room with a spider, located to the right side by a skeever pen.
• Temple of Xrib Refugee Annex - In the room with the two Centurions, to the right of the stairs.
• Irkngthand Refugee Annex - To the left of the door at the top of the ramps in the big cavern.
• Lost Ruins - In the main cavern after the excavation team sets up.
• Trinimac Temple Ruins - To the left as you enter the cave.
• Trinimac Temple Ruins - At the bottom of the cave.
• Trinimac Temple - After unlocking the first door on the right.
• Temple of the Venerable Ones - When you access the central chamber look to the left to unlock the large door then follow the ice cavern until it branches to the right. Next to a giant frozen ice troll.
• Temple of the Venerable Ones - After the previous one continue down the crevice to the bottom where the chime is located. It's on the ground floor to the east side.
