The Dev Aveza is given to you by Rakis. He will come to meet the player outside the guild house to give them the Staff of Indarys. A Thalmor agent will then attempt to assassinate him. If Rakis is killed, the ship will remain for the player to use. Alternatively, if the player stops the Thalmor agent from assassinating Rakis, he will gift them the Dev Aveza as thanks.
If Moonpath to Elsweyr is installed, he will instead request Auryen to send the player to retrieve the staff in Elsweyr during the quest 'It Belongs in a Museum'. After finishing the quest, Rakis will come to the Museum in the Dev Aveza and gift it to the player.
The Dev Aveza acts as a movable player home. In order to fast-travel, set a location and go back outside. Activating the steering wheel will move you and the ship to your chosen location.
The second level offers armor and weapon racks as well as crafting material chests that are all linked up to your safehouse and Craftloot storage. Anything deposited in the safehouse is also available from these chests. If Picky's Resonator is obtained, it can be installed into the Dev Aveza engine to remotely control it with Picky's Beacon.
There is a smuggler's hold under hidden board covered by a rug on the bottom floor. Inside are two chests and Sanamia's Journal. If Moonpath to Elsweyr is not installed, the Thrassian Plaguesword and Kordir's Skooma will also be found there.
