So certain things have been discussed in how to change the wiki, to accomodate both V5, as well as Classic Skyrim information. This is a bundling of all this information. Please use the comment section to discuss this, i will then add it on to this post.
- The wiki will only support SSE V5 and Classic Skyrim, seeing as having pre V5 SSE information would be very confusing. Pre V5 SSE is also very similar to Classic Skyrim.
- Mods that add displays will get pages on the wiki, but only if they have the Auryen Seal of Approval from the Legacy Dev Team. Pages for mods that are not officially endorsed should be marked with the Unofficial template. They should only be linked to from their mod page (Example: Midwood Isle), not from the main gallery page (Example: Hall of Heroes) that they are in, to avoid confusion.
- Skyrim SE information will come first, in things like lists, images, item pages etc.
- For large pages with massive changes, a page with a tabview will be used. Examples are all Display Rooms in the Museum. For this, two pages need to be created, one named "pagename (Classic Skyrim)" and one named "pagename (SSE). Then on both pages the following code should be used at the top of the page to create a redirect box.
<div style="background-color: #000000; border: 1px solid #808080; padding: 7px; width: auto; text-align: center; float: left;">SSE Version</div>
<div style="background-color: #000000; border: 1px solid #808080; padding: 7px; width: auto; text-align: center; float: left;">Classic Version</div>
<br><br>
- For smaller changes, such as a change in the location of an item, the same page will be used.
- If an item has a new name in SSE, and only the name is changed, the Classic Skyrim will become a redirect to the old page. Write Combined on the page, as well as a note, what the item was renamed from. Example: Companion's Battle Axe.
- Certain special pages may have individual needs, and will need to be figured out on a more individual basis. Example: Miraak Reborn.
- The Legacy Dev team have explicity asked for no spoilers regarding the location of Ice's Spoon at this time. Other spoilers should be hidden in spoiler tags. (Think hidden things, quest changes possibly)
Updating of Item pages: The thing on the right of every item page is called an infobox. MerrianMay & myself changed the template for the infobox, so SSE V5 info can be added. The new template can be easily copied from https://pastebin.com/a6Tq0QeQ
- If V5 adds a new texture for items or an item needs multiple images, the following can be used after image1=

- For the location an item has in the museum: above Museum=, you should add in |MuseumSSE =With the location behind it. The template will then display both the old as well as the new location. For items that weren't in the Classic Skyrim version, only the MuseumSSE= should be used and vice versa. Like so: 1st Weapons Display in the Hall of Heroes
- For the Origin Section, above Origin=, you should add in |OriginSSE =
Here you should add the Abb (see Nexus links in tutorial section below) for the Special Edition Nexus. Or Game, Dawnguard DLC, Dragonborn DLC for items from the base game.
- The old RefID section. RefID was actually an incorrect term. The term should be BaseID, RefID is really only for NPC's and the like. So the Label has been changed, however we can't easily change the source. So in the template when editing, RefID= should still be used.
- The BaseID section displays a nice little bit of text below the ID. It used to display a link it pulled from the Origin section. Since new items that are only in SSE won't have an Origin section, this presented a problem. We have tried a lot of things and this is how it works now:
after Origin=, you should add in
|OriginName =
What you put there is what will be displayed in italics in that bit of text below the BaseID. This is not needed for items where the Origin is Game.
This has the nasty side effect that currently "the mod" is displayed on all pages, so start updating i suppose hahaha :)
- So the Legacy Patches have a few ways of dealing with similar items, and how we will use it on the wiki:
The patch makes the mod added item unavailable. It replaces the mod's version of the item with Legacy's version. Example: Chrysamere. The page should just say: when MOD is installed, it is now found HERE. This means no change in BaseID or Origin is needed.
The patch makes the Legacy Version unavailable. It favors the mod's version as well as location. Example: Ice Blade of the Monarch. A new page should be created for both mod items, using the mod name in parenthesis. A redirect box (see above) can then be used.
Two mods add the same item. This used to happen with MIL and OAP a lot, Example: Madstone of the Ahemmusa. A new page should be created for both mod items, using the mod name in parenthesis. A redirect box (see above) can then be used.
The patch simply make the mod's item unobtainable. This means no page for it is needed.
The patch names it something else. Example, Undeath's Staff of Worms becomes the Arch Necromancers Staff. In this case, we will assume all users use the patch and have one page, called Arch Necromancers Staff, with maybe a little note on the page that is was renamed. If it doesn't get a display, no page is needed. (No display items are usually renamed to (replica) or (forgery) in the patch).
Sometimes the patch adds extra (displayable) items (I know the MAS patch does this) or there's a situation like Shadowrend, where it is only available with a specific patch, but the BaseID is technically in Legacy. These pages need to be as clear as possible.
If you want to link to a mod in the text on a page, use the internal link to the mod page. Not all internal mod pages have been created yet. Example: Oblivion Artifact Pack
Tutorial Section
- Internal links: If you want to link to another page on the Legacy of the Dragonborn wiki, use Nordic Shortsword.
- Image links: If you want to link to an image, you should use . (IS THIS RIGHT?) If putting it in the template for the infobox, only filename.jpg/png is needed.
- Wiki links: If you want to link to a vanilla skyrim thing on the wiki, you can use the following template: Wiki page name
- Nexus links: If you want to link to a mod, please do so by using LOTDSE. Every supported display mod should have a abbreviation code, found on Template:Abb. Please check if you want to use a SSE or Classic link. This is also used in the origin section of the infobox on item pages. If a mod that adds displays doesn't have one, please put it in the comments. For other links to the nexus, use mod/user for SSE or mod/user for Classic.
- Discord: There is a special channel made for discussion related to the wiki at the Odyssey of the Dragonborn Discord. https://discord.gg/a6JuV4F , then click on the #legacy-wiki-talk.
