Wreck of the Brinehammer
The saber is below deck in the Wreck of the Brinehammer, in a room behind the first locked door, next to a wooden chest. It's stuck inside the wooden wall. The wreck is found along the northern coast of Skyrim, about halfway between Dawnstar and the Solitude Lighthouse.
Upon picking it up the quest will finish.
Notes
If you already picked the saber up before reading the notes, the quest finishes instantly with a different journal entry.
